At TED Community we believe everyone deserves equal access to trustworthy, empathetic and empowering health information. This site is built for inclusion, so that people living with thyroid eye disease can learn, connect and take part regardless of ability or technology.

Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, which also covers the WCAG 2.1 AA criteria referenced by European accessibility legislation (European Accessibility Act, EN 301 549).
Accessibility is built into the site itself rather than added through an overlay. Semantic structure, keyboard operability, contrast and text scaling are part of the design system, so assistive technology works with the page as published.
How this website supports accessibility
Built-in preferences for text size, enhanced contrast and reduced motion, available from the accessibility button on every page and saved in your browser.
Semantic HTML with headings, landmarks, lists and a skip-to-content link, so screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver can navigate the content.
Full keyboard operation with a visible focus indicator, and pointer targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels.
Text that reflows without loss of content up to 200% zoom and down to a 320-pixel viewport, and colour that is never the only way information is conveyed.
Descriptive text alternatives for images, with decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
Compatibility
The site is tested with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with the screen readers and keyboard navigation commonly used in our community. Your own browser and operating system settings always take priority over the preferences set here.
Limitations and feedback
Despite our efforts, some sections may not yet be fully accessible. Content migrated from our previous website is still being reviewed, in particular text alternatives for some older images.
